CLUB NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the Club’s Annual General Meeting will be held in the hall at 8 pm on Thursday 29th March.
In accordance with the Club Rules John Capps and Ray Goodearl stand down from the Club’s Management Committee and offer themselves for re-election.
Any person wishing to stand for election to the Management Committee must fill out a Nomination Form with the signature of a nominating member. The Nomination Form must be received in the Club Office not later than Wednesday 15th February and posted on the Club Notice Board.

NEW EVENTS MANAGER – The club is pleased to announce the appointment of James Mansfield as Events Manager from 30 January taking over from Jacek Czerski who is starting a new career in France. We thank Jacek for all his work for the club and wish him well in his new adventure – and good luck to James in his new role.

3. EVENT DETAILS
FRIDAY 3 FEBRUARY – DINNER CONCERT – This dinner concert at 7.30 pm will start with dinner and then followed by light classical music played by HUGH MATHER (piano) and PAULINE LOWERY (violin).
The tickets are £18 per head for Brentham Club members and £20 for non-members, and this includes a two course meal, carvery and dessert by Neil, the Brentham Chef. Please book your places by Monday 30 January. To buy tickets send a cheque to the Brentham Club, 38a Meadvale Road, Ealing, W5 1NP or visit the Members’ Bar upstairs at the Club. SATURDAY 4 FEBRUARY – 17 MARCH – SIX NATIONS RUGBY ON BIG SCREEN – All welcome to watch the Six Nations Rugby Union Championships on the big screen in the Members Bar. Fixture list available in the Members Bar – and on the club website. Opening day fixtures on 4 February are France v Italy, 2.30pm and Scotland v England, 5pm.
SUNDAY 12 FEBRUARY – VALENTINE CARVERY – Come and join us in the Main Hall from 1 pm for a 3 course carvery meal. The price per person is £14.95 for members and £16.50 for non members, for 2 course carvery meal price is £12 for members and £14 for non-members. Please contact James on 07402-711982 to book a table
FRIDAY 17 FEBRUARY – Cricket Section - ANNUAL DINNER - Friday 17 February 2012. Three Course Silver Service Dinner, annual presentation of silverware and accolades, Master of Ceremonies (Roger Dakin), Professional Guest Speaker is Aaron James (impressionist, comedian and raconteur) and a great evening. Pre-dinner drinks in the Sports Bar from 7 pm. Dinner in Main Hall at 7.30 pm. Reserve your ticket early. SUNDAY 26 FEBRUARY – WINE, CHOCOLATE AND CHEESE TASTING – All welcome to attend Harrison’s first tasting event at the Brentham Club on Sunday 26th February from 4pm-6pm. Harrison’s artisan chocolate makers, Lick the Spoon, will talk through their selection of chocolates specially prepared to complement 8 chosen wines and spirits, and we will be tasting a chocolate specially made for Harrison's using their very own Cristallo Strawberry Wine. There will also be a selection of Cheeses to go with the Wine and the Chocolate to make things even more interesting.
This exciting event is just £15 per ticket and this includes a glass of bubbles on arrival. Could make the perfect Valentine's Gift!

4. CLUB NEWS and PROMOTIONS
Members’ Bar – Revised Opening Hours from 3 January 2012 [to 19 March]
A reminder that from 3rd January until 19th March the Members’ Bar will be closed until 4pm each day from Monday to Thursday. The Members’ Bar will continue to be open every Friday from 11am.
The Coffee Shop will be open each weekday including Monday. The coffee shop will serve a small selection of alcoholic drinks at lunch time
ACCESS TO THE SNOOKER ROOM - Alastair Campbell
Although the Members Bar will be closed until 4 pm on Mondays to Thursdays, the Snooker Room will remain open for play from 10 am. Entry will be via the stairs next to the Coffee Bar and your swipe card will be required. The snooker balls will be available either in the ball tray or in the pocket rails.
BRENTHAM CLUB AGM – The AGM is to be held at 8pm on Thursday 29th March 2012. Anyone who wishes to join the Committee should see the Club’s
noticeboard by the main door to collect a nomination form. The forms, duly countersigned, must be forwarded to the Club’s Secretary no later than 15th February 2012
CENTENARY GOODS FOR SALE - SHIRTS & PENS - See the staff in the Members Bar to purchase your Brentham Club Centenary shirt - limited edition - in blue or white at £10 each. Also available are Centenary Pens with the club Centenary logo at £1 each.
CLUB TELEPHONE NUMBER TO BOOK and DISCUSS EVENTS - The club has a new telephone number to discuss and book events - please contact James on 07402711982. This new number is the preferred contact. For other queries please phone the club on 020 8997 2624.
COMPUTER - FREE INTERNET ACCESS - Facilities are available in the club coffee shop and members bar. The code is ‘38abrentham’. Fibre optic broadband is now set up.
BRENTHAM CLUB SWIPE CARD – The club has invested in a door entry system and swipe card for members. Please use your swipe card to gain access to the clubhouse, plus a reminder of the benefits of “loading” your card with money to spend in the club. This way you only have to carry one card and you get the added benefit of the discount of 10% that applies to your card for purchasing drinks and food in the Members Bar and the Coffee Shop.
If you have lost your card, we are happy to replace it for a fee of £5.00. If you have a card that is lost with money on it – the balance is shown against your card name and therefore it will benefit you to report and replace a lost card.
BOOKINGS FOR ROOMS AND EVENTS AT THE BRENTHAM CLUB - We have 4 rooms for rental:
(1) The Main Hall holds a maximum 120 people and measures roughly 14 x 8 metres with overhead projector, screen, wifi microphone & sound system.
(2) The Sports Bar capable of holding about 50 people with wide screen TV and blue ray player and new juke box.
(3) The Conference Room holds approximately 12 people with broadband, telephone & flip chart.
(4) The Coffee Shop holds approximately 40 people suitable for dinners, meetings etc.

5. SECTION NEWS
CRICKET
MONDAY 13 FEBRUARY – Social Evening and Pre-season get together – Sports Bar starting at 7.30 pm
FOOTBALL
New football changing rooms - Work will start on the 23 January with regard to the new football changing rooms. Work is expected to last for twelve weeks. By April 2012, the Brentham footballers will have their own changing rooms for the first time since 1919! Many thanks to all who have contributed donations to the project, and particularly to Eamonn Malone and Thames Materials who are now a major sponsor of the club.
BRENTHAM VETERANS - Match reports - Since the last newsletter, Brentham Veterans have played four games and gone goal crazy, scoring 23 goals in four games, even managing to lose one game after scoring 5 goals! The results on 11/12 - Beat Old Richmond Lock 2-1; 18/12 – Lost to Teddington Veterans 5-6 in a thriller, with Teddington scoring their winner in the very last minute. Eamonn Malone recorded a hat-trick in this game; 8/1 – Beat London Japanese 8-2. Tom Rice scored a hat-trick in this game in our first ever game against London Japanese. Mick Duffy also scored his 250th Brentham Veterans goal in this game; 15/1 – Beat Southside 8-1. Another hat-trick for Eamonn Malone with Dave Sellers recording his 50th Brentham Veterans goal. Mick Duffy was making his 250th Brentham Veterans appearance.
Future fixtures - Brentham Veterans fixtures for January/February are as follows:- 29/1 v Bank of England at the Bank of England club Roehampton; 5/2 v Meadhurst at BP Sunbury sports ground; 9/2 v Chalfont St Peters – evening match with a 7:30pm K.O. at Chalfont St Peters ground; 12/2 v Imperial College at the Heathrow Sports Grounds; 19/2 HOME v Brentford Supporters Club Veterans; 26/2 v Sheen Old G’s in Sheen. All of the above fixtures are AWAY, apart from the 19/2 game v Brentford Supporters club Veterans.
Brentham home games kick off at 10:45am Sunday mornings. Why not come down and support the Vets? Mick Duffy, Captain, Brentham Veterans FC.

BABY SENSORY CLASSES- This classes provide hundreds of simple activities designed to stimulate the senses and help with your baby’s development. The classes are held every Wednesday from 9.00 am until 1.30 pm. Our baby classes include activities ranging from signing to fibre optic light shows, amazing light balls, bubbles and bells our unique themed session plans provide new exciting experiences every week. BOOK CLUB - We meet on the last Monday of the month at 8 pm in the Coffee Shop. We usually finish at 9.30pm and occasionally repair to the bar afterwards. HANGER HILL COUNCILLOR’S SURGERY - The surgery is held at the Brentham Club on the second Saturday of each month 10.30 - 11.30 am. If you need any Councillor’s advice then please call 020 8825 7887.
ROTARY - Meets every Tuesday in the Main Hall from 7 pm.

YOUTH CLUB - The Hanger is the Youth Club that the PCA with Jenny Verasammy established in Autumn 2011. The Hanger is for the local youth to have a safe place to be with their friends where they can watch TV, video games, table football, table tennis and a whole number of other activities. This is aimed at years 7 through to 11 and will be held at the Club on Thursday evenings. If you would like to find out more please email youthclub@pitshanger.org.uk. This is a voluntary run project so please we need help in making this great project work so again let us know if you can help at the sessions (we can help sort CRB checks) or provide items such cards, board/table games, bean bags, DVDs, Wii games, drinks/snacks etc.
